OXYGEN PONIES in Big Takeover Magazine Fall 2011
This starts off sounding like Mark Lanegan fronting The Velvet Underground. Mellow Underground? But there’s a twist in the vocals, that slight indie sneer, that moves this closer to some hipster daydream, moving and mellow, but full of shadows. There’s some acoustic heartache, too, as softly sung emotions fall like sorrow, loss and broken glass. These are sad songs sung well, and sometimes those are the best songs to sing.
