Hidden Target Recordings is a bare bones, grassroots record label built on community and friendship. We believe the whole is greater than the sum of it's parts. Founded in early 2009, we grew out of a basement in Dumbo (Brooklyn, NY), which also houses the Saltlands, Between the Trains, Honey Jar and the Love Boat recording studios; the Saltmines Collective and private rehearsal rooms which are home to many bands you've (a) either heard of or (b) will hear of shortly. Along with releasing albums by artsits that move us emotionally, we offer guidance, experience and support to help our musicians cultivate fruitful careers with artistic freedom and integrity.

How does an artist or band get signed to Hidden Target?
All of our artists are self-motivated, intelligent, talented and a pleasure to be around. So those are requirements. Entrepreneurial skills, creativity and a strong work ethic doesn't hurt either. We like to communicate on a daily basis and no one wants to talk to an asshole.
Can we send you our demo? Are there any requirements?
Yes and yes. First and foremost, have something to say. Have an opinion. Sound like yourself. Secondly, listen to our other bands. Does your music fit in with what we're already doing? If it doesn't, that's totally cool but there's probably a better home for you.

I saw a video online from a Hidden Target Secret Show, do you still do those? What happened to your blog?
We will do a monthly series again as soon as time permits. Same goes with the blog. As soon as we remember our log in code.
What does Hidden Target do for their artists?
It depends on the situation as every artist is unique and every case is different. We utilize your strengths and strengthen your weaknesses. We work very closely with all our artists, their management, booking agent, publicists, street teams, and are generally involved in every aspect of getting the music out to as many people as possible.
In some cases we act as the artist's management and booking agent. In others, we'll even produce your record if we have to.
I'm a big fan of Hidden Target Recordings and I'd like to help. What can I do?
You can do as much or as little as you like. Everything counts. Start by telling your friends about our artists. Make them a mix cd (or i tunes playlist), bring them to a show, sign our mailing lists and 'like' our facebook pages. Tweet and repost our songs and videos as much as you can to help us spread the word. If you'd still like to do more and you have the passion and the work ethic - make a video or join our street teams and help by designing or passing out flyers/posters/stickers/etc. Tell us what you're doing and we will come up with ways to reward and help you. If you're involved in your local music scene and would be interested in hosting artists, putting on shows, contacting your college radio station, scouting, and starting message boards, etc. then get in touch!
